P.S.: And if you thought I was going to go all simple-livingish on you, here's an antidote to Gandhi: The current show at the Serge Soroko Gallery is of drawings made a little less than 500 years ago by goldsmith Jacopo Strada, who lived in Italy and Germany. They picture proposed objects "for a Royal table."

 

In other words, if the Duke of Savoy wanted to punch up his pasta without putting the box on the table, he might have ordered a "covered salt cellar with Poseidon holding his triton," as pictured in one drawing and in this exhibition catalg. This is how people lived in the pre-Martha Stewart era.
