Ralph Rucci Wins Rave Reviews for Paintings at Sorokko Gallery in San Francisco

M. Ralph Rucci est un maître dans tout ce qu'il crée - de couture à des œuvres d'art sublimes-which translates as: Mr. Ralph Rucci is a master of all he creates, from couture to sublime works of art.

His masterful exhibit—"Ralph Rucci: Ascension" at the Serge Sorokko Gallery in San Francisco through 18 January—is a bold, 30-piece collection of modern mixed media works on canvas, that engages the eye and the soul.

Rucci, who was presented with a California State Senate Certification of Recognition by State Senator Mark Leno at the gala reception held in his honor at the launch of the exhibit, is a man to whom creativity flows unabated and unbridled, from luxurious fashion and design, to visual art and textiles—even to the appointment of his stunning apartment, designed by one of America's foremost decorators-Susan Gutfreund.

"This is a special event indeed—a very special event," Serge Sorokko said to Lives of Style, on the evening of the opening gala reception.

Rucci's ability to admix modern Abstract Expressionist and Japanese influences, to manifest the confluence of a flush of a brushstroke over a sliver of silk on a painting, or to envision the universal and the infinite—encompassing vantage points that bring to mind Cy Twombly, Richard Serra and Piere Soulange is impressive.

The paintings, from this year and last, are showing at the Serge Sorokko Gallery as part of a long-standing friendship and high regard between the two aesthetes, and the impact of the paintings on the gallery wall is forceful and impactful, palpable and evocative. Tatiana Sorokko, Serge Sorokko's wife and famed international model, has been a friend and muse to Ralph Rucci for years.

This is a show not to be missed—to be seen and purchased—savored and cherished.
