THE SERGE SOROKKO Gallery could be called the place where celebrities hang out.
At present, an exhibition of more than 80 images by photographer Sante D'Orazio of models, artists and actors, often during very private moments can be seen there through Sunday.
"A Private View: Photographs and Diary" is a show that celebrates both the private and public lives of people like models Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and Stephanie Seymour, and screen stars like Kim Basinger, Michelle Pfeiffer, Julia Roberts, Sharon Stone, Antonio Banderas and John Travolta.
The 16-by-20-inch black-and-white photos most are for sale are an insider's view of the world of supermodels, musicians, movie stars and artists (don't miss the collage of the Schnabels, as well as those of Drew Barrymore, Dennis Hopper and Naomi Campbell).
And next Friday, Donna Karan will launch a new exhibition, "Colors of the Vanishing Tribes." Included will be photographs, jewelry, textiles and artifacts shown in the book of the same name by Bonnie Young, who travels the world with Karan in search of inspiration for the designer.
The photographs taken in New Guinea, Vietnam, China, India, Tibet, Africa and the Middle East focus on the different indigenous tribes and the colors they wear. This exhibit runs through Jan. 5.
