Howard Hodgkin was born in London in 1932, and attended Camberwell School of Art and Bath Academy of Art. Among his many honors are the Turner Prize (1985) Honorary Fellow of the London Institute (1999) and an Honorary Doctorate at the University of Oxford. He was awarded Knight Commander of the British Empire in 1992. His selected public and private collections include Fine Arts Museum, San Francisco, Los Angeles County Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Metropolitan Museum, New York, The Tate Gallery, The Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. He currently lives and works in London.
