A Big Apple buzz at the Sorokko Gallery when Tatiana and Serge Sorokko broke open the bubbly (Champagne Mumm, yum) at the opening of photographer Pat York's "Under the Skin" exhibition. The mix, it was eye-opening. In the in-crowd: socialistas, models, filmmakers, actors and politicians. And in the show: celeb portraits, everyday folk at work -- in the nude -- and cadavers. Yep, you read that right. "I was inspired after working on my book about aging -- I discovered what it means to be human. Underneath the skin, we all posses this incredible machine," said the former Vogue fashion writer and Glamour travel writer. Getting an eyeful: York's husband, actor Michael York; Pam and Richard Glogau, Hermes' Terry Howard, Heide Betz, portrait artist Carina Ryan, and Guy and Maria Muzio.
Of all the famous folks she's snapped, including Robert Kennedy in 1966, the one person she'd love to capture on film is Nelson Mandela. But right now, Pat is focusing on her cadaver phase. Talking earlier about the series for an Evening Magazine interview, "I started to think of all the young boys serving in Iraq. And I burst into tears on camera."
