SERGE SOROKKO GALLERY AND DONNA KARAN PRESENT "COLORS OF THE VANISHING TRIBES",
PHOTOGRAPHS BY BONNIE YOUNG
NEW YORK, December 10- Donna Karan and the Serge Sorokko Gallery are pleased to announce the launch of a new photography exhibition "Colors Of The Vanishing Tribes", which is an extension of the new book of the same name by Bonnie Young. Ms. Young has captured ideas and materials that inspire the original creations of Donna Karan while traveling the globe as the Director of Global Sourcing and Inspiration at Donna Karan International. Images from her book capture the peoples and colors from areas ranging from Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and China, to India, Tibet, Africa and the Middle East. These photographs depict the relationships between different indigenous tribes and the colors they wear.
The launch party for the book and the exhibition will bring together some of the world's top personalities, models and celebrities who will join Bonnie Young and Donna Karan in what will surely be one of the premier events of the year. A unique exhibition, the installation will feature not only photographs from the book, but also jewelry, textiles and artifacts from all over the world that have been collected by Bonnie Young and Donna Karan on their travels. All proceeds from this event will benefit "Trade for Aid", a global non-profit organization dedicated to developing creative centers for children in economically disadvantaged communities across the world. The exhibition will run from December 11, 1998 through January 5, 1999 at the Serge Sorokko Gallery, 430 West Broadway, New York City.
